Digital Marketing Formula. While working at Ogilvy and Mather Ad Agency, I discovered a formula that worked then and now! It starts with an idea, then, the artists paraded their remarkable designs. Clever writing took care of the rest. Today, we utilize the Internet for our marketing prowess.

MARKETING ON THE NET: You can sell a potato salad recipe on the Net and rake in $10,000. I heard this story and was skeptical.  As a perpetual skeptic, I still don’t know if this story is really true. It makes good copy and conversation! Long term marketing is about developing a brand with authority and supported by ‘real’ customer testimonials.
NEIMAN MARCUS SCANDAL: (Fact or fiction) How about the scandalous Neiman Marcus chocolate chip cookie recipe you can buy for $250 (Circa 1997). A customer was in their coffee shop and asked for the recipe for their chocolate chip cookie. “Why yes” said the server. “It will be 250.” The customer replied, ” Please add it to my account.”  Later, she saw the $250.00 billed to her account! She thought he meant $2.50 not $250!? Annoyed, the customer published the recipe on the internet for FREE. Many people copied the recipe and passed it around the office. Direct, digital, promotion and relationship marketing works. Story marketing is good as long as it is a ‘GOOD” story.
